A BRITISH MMA fighter wanted over the attempted murder of a Hampshire teenager has been arrested in Thailand.

Glen Bailey, 43, is accused of assisting in the shooting of a 17-year-old boy in Blackwater, near Sandhurst in February 2018.

Basingstoke Magistrates' Court issued a warrant for Bailey's arrest but he fled to Thailand where he has been living since April.

Bailey allegedly assisted in the shooting of a 17-year-old outside a block of garages in Hearsey Gardens in February 2018 — leaving him paralysed from the waist down.

Thai police and immigration officers stormed a health centre sauna in Pattaya on Tuesday and arrested Bailey as he was said to be relaxing after a heavy workout.

It has been reported that Lieutenant General Sompong Chingduang of the Thai police said: "We received all of the information from the British authorities.

"We were informed the man is a martial artist which made us consider surveillance at the health centres across the city."

Bailey was charged for overstaying and will be deported back to England to face the allegations.

A Thai Immigration statement said Bailey was the subject of an arrest warrant for attempted murder.

The statement added: " According to the warrant WAR180054963 of the court in Basingstoke on March 5, 2019, the incident occurred on February 10, 2018 in the Blackwater area, Hampshire area, England, where the victim was an English man aged 17 years and was shot with a 9 mm gun. The bullet caused spine damaged. They were paralyzed from the waist down.

"The suspect escaped from England into Thailand. It was found that the trip to Thailand was on April 3, 2019, through the Chanthaburi checkpoint."
