A man has been arrested after an armed robbery in Urmston.

Shortly after 8pm on Wednesday 14 August 2019, a man stormed a shop on Woodsend Road, armed with a hand gun and an axe.

He made threats towards staff before fleeing the scene with alcohol and tobacco

Today officers arrested a 20-year-old man on suspicion of robbery and burglary.

He remains in custody for questioning.

“We have been working tirelessly and thanks to the quick work of our officers, and support from members of the public – we have made an arrest.
