FIRE crews rushed to car ablaze in the early hours yesterday.

A Vauxhall Astra in Moorland Grove is believed to have been deliberately set alight with fire crews scrambling to extinguish the flames just after 4am yesterday morning.

The fire started in the back of the car before spreading.

Bolton North crew manager John Wheeldon said: "There was smoke coming from the car, it was a suspected malicious ignition started in the rear of the car."

The fire crew attended the scene for around 40 minutes as the made the car safe and informed the owner.

Greater Manchester Police were informed of the incident.
