ORGANISERS of a new "Cultural Cabaret" are on the look out for new talent to perform at their monthly gigs.

Performances have been taking place in the conservatory in Courtyard 36, otherwise known as Little Bolton Town Hall, on the first Thursday of the last three months.

It was launched by headline act Nanukes of the North, the ukelele band fronted by Bolton-based Jenny "the Vixen" Ryan from TV's The Chase quiz show.

Local band Limbs and singer Charlotte Mary have also packed out the intimate venue with their fans.

The next gig is due to take place on Thursday, September 5, and organiser Paul Blackburn wants to hear from performance artists interested in featuring on the bill.

"We're looking for acoustic musicians, comedians, and poets," said Paul. "We are particularly interested in people who want to use the gigs as a test space for new material.

"We want people to come to try new things. The good thing for the audience is that each performer gets 10 minutes, so if they don't like someone, they don't have to listen to it for too long.

"The headline act gets about 25 minutes."

Paul said the venue holds about 30 people, but if the weather is pleasant the doors to the conservatory can be opened to make it a semi-open-air event.
