The Buck Inn, in Green Lane in Sale, has been named ‘Pub of the Season’ by the Campaign for Real Ale, Trafford and Hulme branch. The pub was commended for its ongoing excellence in the quality of real ales and ciders on offer and its commitment to customers and the community.

Rick Welsby, the General Manager of the Buck Inn, was presented a certificate by the local CAMRA Chairman, George Elmslie, after he and the rest of the Trafford and Hulme CAMRA team voted the pub number one for the summer.

Since taking over the pub in May this year, Rick and his team have worked hard to improve the pub’s range of cask ales and ciders – by focusing on their quality, as well as the team’s exceptional Cask Marque accredited service, they have ensured their offer is second to none.

The pub has five real ale taps, four of which are devoted to cask ales and one to craft cider. And while two taps are constantly serving the ever-popular Doom Bar and Doom Bar Extra Cold, Rick and his team change up the other two on a regular basis, giving preference to local breweries and customer favourites, from Moorhouse’s Pride of Pendle and Marston’s 61 Deep, to Timothy’s Landlord.

Rick said: “We’re so proud to have won CAMRA’s Pub of the Season! I feel like we’ve all worked really hard towards this, so to be recognised is something special. We’re always on the lookout for new and exciting ales to feature on our special guest taps, with some delicious offerings from nearby Dunham Massey Brewing Company in the pipeline – excuse the pun! They’re a family run brewery only five miles away, brewing multi-award winning traditional North Western style real ale, which are exactly the kind of ales we want to represent.”

George Elmslie said: “The Buck Inn consistently impresses with its delivery of both a wide variety and good quality real ales. In the last few months they have gone from strength to strength, supporting local breweries and keeping their customers happy. They ensure that going for a pint at the Buck is never a disappointing or boring experience! Congratulations to Rick and his team – we hope to see them in the running for Pub of the Year 2020.”
