POLICE have released CCTV images after a man was stabbed in the head while he was in a beer garden in Trafford.

A man in his 30s was seriously assaulted in the grounds of The King’s Ransom pub in Britannia Road, Sale, at around 9.30pm on Sunday, April 7, 2019.

While he was drinking with his friend, a group of men entered the beer garden and were described as being rowdy.

A police spokesman said: "It’s been reported that before long, they assaulted a man, at which point the man in his 30s tried to defuse the situation. This is the point he was stabbed in the head, with what is believed to be a pen knife."

The victim was taken to hospital with a fractured skull and has since been discharged.

Since the time of the offence, officers have been trawling CCTV, speaking to witnesses and trying to identify the other person who was assaulted.

Now they have released two images of men they want to speak to in connection with the assault.

Detective Constable Steven Gardner of GMP’s Trafford District, said: “The speed this situation escalated and the fact those responsible were equipped with a weapon is nothing short of frightening.

“I appreciate you may not be able to cast your mind back to April but please take a look at the images we’ve released and get in touch with us if you recognise the men pictured or have any information whatsoever about the incident itself.

“Although he’s recovering at home, the lasting effects this is having may stay with him for some time. His speech, co-ordination and confidence have been greatly affected. In what he thought was going to be an enjoyable night drinking with his friend turned into one of the worst nights of his life.

“It’s so important that we find who is responsible for this and make sure that they can no longer go on with their lives oblivious to the physical and psychological pain they have caused.”
