RESIDENTS are being invited to have their say on plans for a £175million wellbeing resort in Stretford.
Therme Manchester is being described as "bringing together the tradition of the ancient Roman spa with an indoor tropical paradise", and will include wave pools, waterslides as a luxury spa.
If given the go ahead, it will be built on a 28-acre site on Barton Dock Road between Phoenix Way, Mercury Way and the Bridgewater Canal.
Stelian Iacob, CEO of Therme Group UK said: “Therme combines sustainable technology with nature and culture. We are excited about the possibility of Therme Manchester bringing wellbeing and affordable luxury to the heart of the community.”
The consultation includes the redevelopment of EventCity on Barton Dock Road into Therme Manchester, as part of a plan with Peel L&P.
It would transform the building currently home to Soccerdome, into a new EventCity with car parking as well as the creation of a new eight-pitch football facility adjacent to it.
James Whittaker, Peel L&P Group Development Director said: “Bringing Therme Manchester to TraffordCity is a once-in-a-generation opportunity and these plans will deliver a world class wellbeing resort to the north of England, create a state-of-the-art events and conference facility as well as provide a permanent football facility for the local community.”
The consultation will take place in the Hall 1 Foyer at EventCity on July 25 between 2pm and 8pm, and July 26 between 12pm and 4pm.
