WARRINGTON Borough Council will serve a notice ordering travellers who have set up camp on playing fields used by a junior football club to leave.
Residents have raised concerns about the unlawful encampment at the council-owned site, off Crab Lane.
One member of the public said he spotted around 20 caravans at the site on Monday evening.
The council said it is currently ‘going through the process of dealing with’ the encampment.
A spokesman confirmed officers have been carrying out welfare checks and will be serving a section 77 notice ordering the group to leave.
The fields are used by Rylands junior section.
