A WARNING has been issued to residents after reports of 'bogus' dog wardens attempting to take pets from owners.

St Helens Council say they have received reports of men pretending to be dog wardens and attempting to take animals from their owners

The incidents took place in Newton-le-Willows, as reported by our sister title St Helens Star.

In a statement, St Helens Council said: "We have had reports that there are men posing as dog wardens and attempting to take dogs from owners.

"Our dog wardens always carry photo ID, drive signed vehicles and are uniformed with the council logo displayed."
