Police are investigating after a man was taken to hospital with back, chest and head injuries following a brawl near an Amersham pub.

At around 1.50am on Sunday (July 14) there was a fight involving around 15 people near the Chequers pub in London Road West.

During the fight, a blue Volkswagen Golf drove into the car park and was jumped on by one of the people involved.

It then left the car park and travelled in the direction of Amersham Old Town.

The car returned to the pub and was being driven on the wrong side of the road, mounting the pavement and crashing into a man, in his 20s.

The victim suffered injuries to his back, chest and head and received treatment at Wexham Park Hospital. He has since been discharged.

Investigating officer PC Emma Card of Amersham police station, said: “This is a serious incident and we would like anyone with information to come forward.

“The victim, although injured, was fortunate not to have sustained significantly more serious injuries.

“It is believed that the incident is isolated and connected with the earlier altercation in the car park.

“If you have any information that could help us with this investigation, please get in touch.

“It would also be helpful if you were in the area at this time, to check your own CCTV and dashcam footage.”
