THE fans had a special song for Saints boss Justin Holbrook after watching the men in the red vee complete their whitewashing of reigning champions Wigan.

Ringing out from the West Stand after the match when they did their lap of honour were several choruses of: "We want you to stay, Justin Holbrook, we want you to stay!"

St Helens Star:

Holbrook, who is out of contract at the end of the year and has left negotiations with his own management/agent, appreciated the support - but could not give an update.

He said: "I have always appreciated the fans and it was great to hear that.

"It gets me a bit emotional that is for sure, because I enjoy it and love the place.

"But I have no update yet – we will see what happens the next couple of weeks.

"I love what I do and the position that I am in – and I am always going to enjoy that.

"It is nice (to feel wanted) but I have the players to thank because of the way they are playing makes it easy for me."

As for the year so far, which sees Saints now 10 points clear at the top, Holbrook said: "The coaching staff and players are loving everything about it.

"We are loving coming to training and playing the game. It helps when you are winning and are in a good side, and that is what we want to do – go out and do the best job we can."
