POLICE are calling for help from the public after an alleged fight involving a group of people left an 18-year-old in a critical condition in hospital.

Paramedics and police officers rushed to the scene of the incident, which occurred around 6.30am last Sunday (June 30) in Bradshawgate, resulted in the arrest of three men aged 18, 22 and 23 on suspicion of causing grievous bodily harm with intent and violent disorder.

One man, 18-year-old Layth Alkalifa of Lever Edge Lane, has since been charged and appeared at Bolton Magistrates’ Court this morning whilst two have been released on police bail.

It is thought that a number of other incidents had taken place in the half hour leading up to alleged fight, although it is not known whether these are linked.

Police believe that there are a number of witnesses, some of whom may have captured footage on their mobile phones.

Detectives investigating the incident are keen to speak to anyone who may have seen what happened between 5:45am and approximately 6:30am.

They are particularly interested in speaking with anyone who may have captured footage or images.
