A £7million care home has marked its latest construction milestone with a ‘topping out’ ceremony attended by the borough’s Mayor.

The Care UK team at Oakfield Croft in Sale, were joined by Mayor of Trafford, Cllr Robert Chilton, alongside developer and construction partner, Termrim Construction Ltd, to put the final tile on the roof of the new-build care home.

The project is on track to create 66 jobs when the care home is fully commissioned, and will welcome its first residents later this year.

Cllr Chilton said: “I am delighted to have been part of this milestone as Care UK steps ever closer to opening the doors to older people in Sale.”

Claire Ellam, development project manager at Care UK, said: “I am thrilled that Cllr Chilton was able to join us for the occasion, and I look forward to welcoming him back to see the home once complete.

“As the latest addition to a growing portfolio of residential care homes, Oakfield Croft represents a major investment for Care UK.

"When complete, the purpose-built care home will boost the provision of quality residential care for up to 60 people, as well as creating jobs for the local community.”

Graeme Bird, Managing Director at Termrim Construction Ltd, who is overseeing the development, added: “Our team is delighted to have marked this key stage in the construction programme with our partners at Care UK. This project will deliver beautifully designed individual accommodation for residents, complemented by high quality communal facilities, and we’re all excited to see the impressive building beginning to take shape.”

Due to open in winter 2019, the purpose-built care home will feature 60 ensuite bedrooms.
