A RADIO DJ is planning to bring back a successful show with plans for future editions.

Robert Maseko, of internet station Radio Afric-Aye will host his event Summer Waves at the Star & Garter in Bow Street.

The night will feature a range of genres, from Soul & Funk to Reggae & Latino artists, as well as the African music the station is known for.

Mr Maseko, who moved to Tonge Moor two years ago, is presenting the night and will be performing his own DJ set.

It comes a year after a similar event held at The Bank, in the Vaults under The Market Place shopping centre.

Mr Maseko hailed the success of his previous event and hopes the evening will provide the perfect opportunity to meet new friends and connections in his adopted home town.

He said: “The night’s about building friendships between cultures, music and networking.

"I want people to come along, so turn up and let’s make friends - as last year's one was very successful at the Market Place.

“Radio Afric-Aye internet radio is there to promote, educate, entertain and celebrate cultures.”

If this latest show is another success, the DJ says he plans to make the networking event an annual occurrence.

Doors open from 6-9pm on Saturday, July 27, with Mr Maseko set to take the stage until late into the night.

Admission is free.
