A MAN was stabbed in Deane, in a fight involving around eight men.

Police were called to Deane Road just after midnight to reports of a disturbance. 

A fight broke out between around eight men, close to the Spar shop, before moving to Pikes Lane Medical Centre.

A 21-year-old man is being treated for multiple stab wounds but the injuries are not believed to be life-threatening. 

A 20-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of section 18 assault and is in custody for questioning. 

Detective Sergeant Tony Lunt from GMP's Bolton District said: "There appears to have been a fight involving around eight men which started near the Spar shop in Deane Road and moved in front of Pikes Lane Medical Centre.

"This lasted for several minutes and were are appealing for anyone who saw anything, or may have CCTV or dash-cam footage, to contact us.

"Extra police patrols are in the area and residents should speak to officers about any concerns they may have.”

This morning, Broad Street has been closed between the main road and Gibraltar Street.

The area outside Lloyds Pharmacy was also taped up.
