A GROUP of dads, veterans and coaches from Sale FC Rugby club have raised £5,200 for local charity The Alex Hulme Foundation by cycling the length of Hadrian’s Wall.
The team set-off on the two day, 90-mile-ride on tracks and cross country from Carlisle Castle to South Shields’ Fort – and even picked up donations from people they met on the way.
Organiser Scott Bambrick, said: “Although this was a very difficult challenge we all finished together and had a brilliant time. We were motivated through the challenge to do all we could to help the Foundation and with the responses we got to our social media update videos throughout both days, kept our spirits up."
“We would like to thank everyone who donated to help us raise over £5,200.00 to the Alex Hulme Foundation.”
The Alex Hulme Foundation raises money for research into Non-Hodgkin Lymphoma in Children.
It was set-up by Alex’s parents Nicola and Dave Hulme, from Sale, after they lost their son to the condition in 2011.
Dave Hulme, said: “We would like to congratulate the guys for completing this marathon task which would be a fantastic achievement on its own but to know that they undertook the event to raise funds for Alex's legacy is humbling to say the least.
“The response and support the lads have gathered is overwhelming and is much appreciated as it will be a massive help towards us meeting our aims in Alex's name."
