A MOUNTAINOUS challenge faces pub landlord Ian Slamon and three of his customers.

Ian, who runs the Lord Nelson, is on a mission to raise £20,000 for The Christie by Christmas. And on June 20 he will be setting off to conquer Mount Kilimanjaro in Tanzania —Africa’s highest peak and the highest free standing mountain in the world standing at 19,341 feet.

He will be joined by customers Jason Boyle, Ciaran McKeever and John McCarrol.

It is the latest in a number of challenges he has organised through the pub to support charities and worthy organisations. The pub in Stretford Road, Urmston has raised £130,000 over the years and for The Christies £12.5k has already been raised through various challenges including climbing Mount Toubkal in the Atlas Mountains and a tandem skydive from 15,000 feet.

“We are doing this to raise funds for the Christie CT department. The department is in bad need of redevelopment,” said Ian. To support and for more information visit visit https://www.justgiving.com/fundraising/lnu
