FIRE fighters were called to Manchester Airport this morning after a blaze broke out.
A fire in a car park near Terminal Two was reported and smoke was seen billowing from the roof.
The car park was quickly evacuated. Images and videos captured by witnesses shows smoke coming from the roof of the building. The fire is understood to have been a vehicle fire.
The new car park opened just last month as part of a £1bn expansion project transforming T2.
A Manchester Airport spokesman said: "This morning there was a small vehicle fire on the roof level of the Terminal Two multi-storey car park west. Firefighters from our on-site fire service attended and extinguished the fire shortly after arriving at the scene.
“As a precaution, the car park has been evacuated. Those travelling to Manchester Airport, especially those intending to park in the Terminal Two multi-storey west, should speak to the on-site traffic marshals, who will direct them to alternative parking locations.
“No flights are affected and further updates, including to customers whose cars are parked in the multi-storey, will be provided as soon as possible.”
