ENGINEERING pupils at Ashton on Mersey School are getting in gear for the starting grid.

The school received a Siemens bursary which enables it to take part in the national Greenpower School Racing Car Challenge where pupils have the exciting opportunity to design, build and race electric cars.

The team of Year 9 pupils are currently working on the kit and designing logos for their car.

Stuart Peet, teacher of engineering and STEM coordinator at the school, said: “We are looking forward to finishing the build in the coming weeks.”

Alex Pettener of Siemens said, “I am really impressed."
