HUNDREDS of people who are enduring financial hardship will now be able to access new support.

A coalition of eight churches based in Sale have united to offer free help to people living in the town.

KingsWay Church, LifeChurch, St John's, Brooklands, St Anne's with St Francis, St Paul’s Church, Sale United Reformed Church, The Avenue Methodist and Trinity Methodist Church have partnered with Christians Against Poverty (CAP) — an award-winning national debt counselling charity to provide the new services.

Over the coming year, trained advisors will carry out home visits to help people who are affected by debt.

Debbie Walters, Sale CAP debt centre manager, said: "Typically, debts can build up when a relationship breaks down, someone loses their job, or through bereavement — so often when people feel least able to cope with finances.

"That is why we are so excited to see a new debt centre open in Sale to offer people that extra level of support.

"If you know things are out of control and you are stressed, missing meals or sleep, please give us a call and let us help you get your life back on track."

CAP has more than 600 services across the UK, providing debt counselling, money management, job clubs and support for people breaking addictions.

A launch event for the new debt centre in Sale was held at The Avenue Methodist Church on May 16. Special guests included CAP founder John Kirkby, MP Mike Kane, and Trafford Council's chief executive, Sara Todd.
