AS summer approaches, don't forget St Ann's Hospice's annual appeal.

Its Forget-me-not fundraiser is one of the many ways you can help the hospice to continue providing specialist care for patients and their families when they need it most.

Two forget-me-not services of reflection and celebration will take place on Saturday, July 13. One will take place at the St Ann's Hospice in Little Hulton, at 10.30am. The other will commence at 2.30pm at the St Ann's Hospice in Heald Green.

New for the appeal this year is a Memory Meadow, where families can dedicate a forget-me-not flower online and share memories of those they have lost with family and friends.

A spokesman for the hospice said: "It's a comfort to know how much people's generosity really does make a difference to our patients."

St Ann’s regularly creates special moments for patients, such as making a dream come true for one couple. Colin was a patient and the hospice enabled he and his wife, Julie, who had recently married, attend a gala dinner to see one of their favourite singers perform.

A spokesman for the hospice said: "Their special song was Rick Astley’s 'Angels On My Side'. Rick found out about Colin and Julie’s story and their love for his song, and he kindly invited them to the event as VIPs.

"Colin was an inpatient at St Ann’s at the time of the event. Our doctors and nurses, physiotherapists, occupational therapist, social worker, the fundraising team and volunteers all pulled together to make sure Colin was ready and able to go out."

Colin died shortly after the night to remember, but Julie was left with a wonderful memory.
