No arrests have been made and enquiries are ongoing.

Police Constable Phillip Collingwood, of GMP’s Serious Collision Investigation Unit, said: “All of our thoughts are with the man who has been seriously injured as he recovers in hospital – as well as his family at what must be an incredibly difficult time.

“We are working hard to piece together exactly what happened in the lead up to this collision and I would implore any members of the public who think they may be able to assist us to please get in touch.

“We are particularly keen to speak to anyone with dash cam footage that was in the area at the time of the incident and saw either vehicle.”
