OVER the past few weeks I have told you a little bit about the upcoming two day event, Urmston Festival - Party on the Pitch, that I have been asked to open and perform at on both days.

This week I’d like to give you all the details of this musical extravaganza that is being held right here in my lovely home town of Urmston. I think it’s absolutely fantastic that The Osmond Brothers, pop icons from the 70s, who had hits with “Crazy Horses”, “Love me for a Reason”, “Let me in” to name just a few, will be appearing at Urmston Festival’s Party On the Pitch on the Saturday.

The event, sponsored by Home Estate Agents, takes place on both Saturday the 25th and Sunday the 26th of May on the cricket pitch at Urmston Sports Club on Moorside Road, Urmston.

This performance by The Osmonds will be one of the last times we will see Jay Osmond live as he has now announced his retirement from touring later on this summer. Fans of the band will be able to re-live the 70s and sing along to their chart-topping hits!

The weekend promises to be one filled with live music and great entertainment and will give you the opportunity to also see the internationally acclaimed band, The Bootleg Beatles, possibly the top Beatles tribute band around, alongside 90s band, Space, Tom Hingley’s Karpets, Stax of Soul, and some amazing tribute bands and local bands.

There will also be a second acoustic stage, showcasing some of Urmston’s own talented music artists. The festival will be opened by me on both days, which I am very honoured and excited to do. It will be compered by Jonny Spangles who is very well known and respected here in Urmston.

There will be a selection of street food vendors, bouncy castles, glitter make-up and a stall for the chosen charity Francis House Children’s Hospice, the charity supported by the festival, will create the real festival vibe.

There have been 14 months of hard work by the organisers leading up to this festival but it’s looking like it’s going to be a huge success, bringing live music and top named artists to Urmston!

Further details and tickets are available from urmstonfestival.com you can also get your tickets from The Three Barrels bar on Flixton Road, Urmston and from Urmston Sports Club on Moorside Road, Urmston. I hope to see some Wayne’s World readers there and I’ll see you all next week!
