In 1986 the healthiest people in Westhoughton were pupils at the town's Parochial School. Pupils took the decision to ban chips and chocolate in favour of wholemeal bread, herbal tea and fruit. As well as healthy eating the pupils will also be having visits from health experts. Holding the box are Charles Platt and Joanne Crawford with, from left, Ashley Berry, Paul Wilcock, Andrew Leaver, Amanda Bibby and Julie England.
