A CAR dealership on the edge of the town centre is looking to expand its offer with a new showroom.

Perry’s Motor Sales, which has represented Peugeot in Bolton since 2000, wants to expand its new Seat showroom which opened earlier this year.

Work on the new showroom could start later this year if plans are approved with the aim of opening in January 2020.

The extension at the Bridgeman Street premises would create 127 square-metres of additional internal floorspace.

The temporary Seat showroom located in a former Peugeot workshop may be closed for a short time but the company told The Bolton News that business should not be affected during this period of construction.

Commercial director Ken Savage wanted to assure customers that closing the temporary Seat showroom will not affect the after-sale service.

Mr Savage, who is originally from Bury, said that the company has been growing in recent years across the region.

He said: “We’ve got quite a lot of representation in the North West. Whilst we are a national group, we try to build local representation.”

The company’s Peugeot dealership in Blackburn has also recently taken on the Seat franchise.

If plans at the Bolton dealership are approved, the move could create six full-time and eight part-time jobs, according to the application which was submitted last month.

Planning officers are due to decide whether the extension can go ahead by May 9.
