A MAN has been arrested on suspicion of drink driving after a van crashed into a lamppost.
The 56-year-old man, from Bridgnorth, Shropshire, was driving the white Citroen Berlingo van when it careered off Whalley Road in Billington.
Emergency services were called to the crash across from St Augustine's school at around 11.55pm yesterday (Tuesday) and the man was breathalysed by police at the scene.
He was arrested on suspicion of drink driving and is currently in custody.
He was taken to Royal Blackburn Hospital with minor injuries following the crash.
A police spokesman said: "We were called to reports of a crash involving a white Citroen Berlingo van which had rolled onto its side.
"Ambulance, fire and police attended the scene.
"The man, a 56-year-old from Bridgnorth, Shropshire, who had been driving the vehicle was taken to Royal Blackburn Hospital for treatment with minor injuries.
"He was also breathalysed and arrested on suspicion of drink driving.
"He is currently in custody."
