MOTORISTS are being urged to find an alternative route this morning after police closed a busy main road.

Manchester Road in Broadheath, Altrincham is shut in both at Stamford Brook Road and Sinderland Road.

A Greater Manchester Police spokesman said: "Officers are currently responding to reports of concern for the welfare of a man on a bridge over Manchester Road, Trafford, close to the junction with Lindsell Road.
"Manchester Road is currently closed."

Transport for Greater Manchester tweeted the closure this morning.

The closure has led to queuing traffic in the area.

And is having a impact on public transport using the road.

The road was opened late in the morning.
