A COUPLE who met at Stretford foodbank as volunteers bowed out last week.

Jim and June Peloe were founder members of the foodbank and formed part of the steering group in September, 2012, and were instrumental in the formation of the foodbank in Barton Road.

From the beginning, Jim has served as secretary and June as chairman, as well as being involved with the day-to-day running of the foodbank.

They were married in 2015 and continued to volunteer on a regularly basis.

June has been a keen bowls player for many years and Jim has just started to learn the ropes so hopefully, they will continue working as a team.

Jim said: “I think now is the time for us to step down and let others take the reins."

Foodbank manager Paul Guest said: "Jim and June have been dedicated volunteers and have given of their all. They will be a hard act to follow.

"Since the foodbank opened, it has processed more than 5,000 vouchers and made nearly 11,000 food parcels, something, I’m sure, they never envisaged doing when they formed the foodbank back then. They will be greatly missed."

A presentation took place last Tuesday. Many volunteers were present.
