A KNUTSFORD musician is making a big impact in Liverpool and is ready to cause a storm in Europe before his band release their new EP.

Anthony Jardine, 20, is the bassist for an up and coming band based in Liverpool called Polar States.

The band has enjoyed plenty of success since last year, with them signing their first record deal and working with an experienced producer for their upcoming EP.

Anthony said: “It has been a bit chaotic really. We are trying to break everything down into small goals to not get carried away.

“We just want to finish writing songs and promote our music at the moment.”

The band are set to embark on a European tour this summer and their first taste of a European show last year has left the band hungry for more.

Anthony said: “We are looking to play in Berlin, Hamburg, Amsterdam and Paris.

“We actually played in Paris two nights in a row last year. With the language barrier we were not expecting too much but the venue was packed.

“It was a two-tier venue as well like a mini Albert Hall and the French crowd really seemed to enjoy the music.”

The band were signed late last year after releasing their single ‘Roads’ and they had a number of offers to consider, but eventually the band signed to Killing Moon Records, the same label for kick starting the careers of Jack Garratt and Fickle Friends.

Anthony said: “We were signed in September last year. We had a few people interested before but after we played the Great Escape, we started talking to Killing Moon and they just felt like the right company to work with.”

The band latest EP was recorded with the help of Larry Hibbitt who has worked with bands such as Sundara Karma and Anthony is delighted with the impact he had on the band.

Anthony said: “Larry is a great guy to work with, he just wants to get the best out of everyone he works with but he did that without putting any pressure on us as a band.

“Our next single is out on April 19 but we do not have a confirmed release date for the EP yet.

“I just want it to be released now though, it can be difficult because there is nothing else we can do it to it now. “

As well as European dates and a new EP the band also have a gig supporting Toploader in the Echo Arena.

The gig will provide a new challenge for the band but Anthony is confident that they will be prepared for their first arena performance.

Anthony said: “That’s definitely the biggest gig we have played so far.

“We are trying to organise a few gigs before it to warm up to it and hopefully we can just treat it the same as any other show.”

Their success since 2018 has seen their music being used by Sky Sports, Hollyoaks and Topman.

Anthony said: “We work closely with a publisher and they distribute relevant songs to the right programmes.

“It’s not like we write songs for Topman or anything, we are just quite lucky that they liked the sound of our music.”

Polar States new single, Fade Out (Of Here), will be released on Friday, April 19.
