AS you will know by now, I love to promote our borough of Trafford, especially my home town of Urmston.

So I was really pleased to be asked to help the new Urmston restaurant Mulino with its private soft launch party and welcome owner Zola Martini, his wife Bia and all their team here to Urmston.

My job was to host and perform at the event and I also invited some special VIP friends along to see for themselves what we have to offer here in Urmston.

The party literally went with a swing, with guests being treated to tasters of the full menu which was all absolutely delicious. There was also a selection of cocktails at the bar and of course the prosecco was flowing.

The staff really were attentive to everyone and although I was working, I had a lovely evening with Val and all the guests in the beautifully decorated restaurant. It was a very fitting setting for me to sing my Sinatra and The Rat Pack classics.

I invited along my good friend Jimmi Harkishin — aka Dev from Coronation Street.

Jimmi has supported many of my events in Urmston and always enjoys his time here.

Also on my invitation list were John Thompson, from the popular television show Cold Feet, and Phil Trow and Chris Brindley from BBC Radio Manchester and I was really pleased that they were all free to attend.

They had a great evening and remarked on how much Urmston is becoming the place to be and that they will all be coming back to Mulino’s again!

You may remember last year I interviewed British heavyweight boxing champion Hughie Fury for my weekly column here at The Messenger.

I have been friends with Hughie and his father/trainer Peter Fury for some time now so I thought I’d invite them along too and was thrilled they were able to attend.

They also brought along with them the current WBA Inter-Continental Female Super Middleweight champion Savannah Marshall.

I really appreciated that they made time, straight from training camp, to come along and enjoy the evening and I’d like to thank them all for coming.

No event in Trafford would be complete, of course, without our Mayor of Trafford, Cllr Tom Ross, and I was thrilled that despite him having another engagement that evening, he still accepted my invitation and made the time to come early and wish Zola, Bia and their team all the best with their new venture.

We had a great night as you can see from the photographs and I hope you will all join me in wishing Mulino’s every success with their new restaurant which is a fantastic new addition to our lovely town of Urmston.
