TWO Altrincham service clubs united to help a charity that supports refugees.

Altrincham Rotary and Inner Wheel Clubs held a joint event at the Cresta Court Hotel Altrincham and raised more than £1,000 from raffles and donations which will be presented to the All We Can charity.

More than 80 Rotarians, Inner Wheel members and their guests attended the event.

The main speaker was Tim Baker, from All We Can, a charity started in the 1930s to help refugees and is now devoted to helping people to help themselves and become more sustainable.

Its message is “helping the world’s poorest people”, "every person’s potential fulfilled” and "in all the way we can”.

“All We Can helps people to find solutions to poverty and become all that they can, by engaging with local people and organisations in some of the world’s poorest communities to end the cycle of suffering caused by inequality and injustice”.

Mr Baker said: “I enjoyed the evening and thanks Altrincham Rotary and Inner Wheel for the opportunity to get the message across. I am very grateful for the money raised which will be used in many useful ways.”
