A TEENAGE girl who joined ISIS is to have her UK citizenship revoked by the Home Office.

The family of Shamima Begum, who left the UK in 2014, said they were "disappointed" with the decision and intend to challenge it.

The family's lawyer, Tasnime Akunjee, issued a statement on Twitter saying: "Family are very disappointed with the Home Office's intention to have an order made depriving Shamima of her citizenship.

"We are considering all legal avenues to challenge this decision."

It has been reported that Shamima's family were notified of the decision by the Home Office in a letter received today.

Shamima, aged 19, married a Dutch national after arriving in Syria and has had three children. Her first son and daughter both died due to sickness and malnutrition, this week she gave birth to another son.

Speaking to various news outlets Shamima has expressed her wish to return to the UK.
