A CORDON is in place in Pendleton after a suspected explosive device was discovered.

Police say following intelligence from the community, officers carried out a search of land off Duchy Road today and a potentially viable device was found.

Bomb disposal were called and are currently in attendance.

A cordon has been put in place as a precaution and police are asking people to avoid the area.

Greater Manchester Police say the incident is not believed to be terrorism related.

GMP’s Serious and Organised Crime Group officers, working alongside Salford’s Operation Arctic Team, are investigating and enquiries remain ongoing.
