I, like many people have switched off from Brexit and the reason is quite simple. I just don't understand it anymore.

I don’t understand the jargon. I don’t understand what we should do. I don’t understand why we argued over an amendment to an amendment?

And this is coming from someone who has a grade ‘C’ in A-level British Government and Politics. A grade I must add I am very proud of.

In the beginning I was told about a date we would exit and about some of the things I would or would not have to worry about.

I remember receiving a press release about how curry chefs would be better off and we would have more opportunities to trade with India and the rest of the world.

Somehow by this miraculous turn of events we have more qualified curry chefs coming to the UK. What could be better than that?

I recollect Priti Patel quoted as saying, "By voting to leave we can take back control of our immigration policies, save our curry houses and join the rest of the world.”

The basis for this argument was that uncontrolled immigration from the EU has led to tougher controls on migrants from the rest of the world.

At the time a fair few people fell for this nonsense.

Would those who voted leave, and let’s be blunt here, want more Indians here once they had got rid of the Europeans?

The fact is there is only one issue that matters to most folk and that is the free movement of people.

It was the reason the referendum went the way it did and whilst we want to dress it up as this grand plan to make ourselves independent from Europe, the rest of the laws and regulations have got nothing to do with it.

As long as the free movement of people stops on March 29 I do not think most folk are going to be worried about anything else.

That has already been promised.

We are now in a situation where nothing actually happens but we are led to believe that something has happened. The whole process was going to be complicated and whilst we have been critical of the leadership it was always going to be like this.

For those who say we could have been a lot stronger I would just ask what would anyone else have done in this situation.

Nothing. Let’s just leave so we can talk about something else.
