A TRAFFORD lollipop lady is starring in a weight-loss programme on the idyllic Caribbean Island of Antigua.

Marguerite Kelly, from Flixton, has appeared in a feature on ITV’s This Morning show Inch loss Island alongside I’m a Celebrity star Fleur East.

The 62-year-old was in Antigua earlier this month and is returning there soon for further live filming.

Trafford Council employee Marguerite, a popular lollipop lady helping children at Davyhulme Infants and Juniors School, weighs 19 stone and is hoping to get to a target 10 stone in the long term.

She said: “Starring on Inch Loss Island has been absolutely amazing. I’ve met some amazing celebrities including Fleur and The Speakmans.

"Dr Zoe used to star in The Gladiator as Amazon. It really is a dream come true — we stay at this amazing resort called St James and take part yoga, personal training sessions, assault courses and sea kayaking.

“The idea is that you do things to make yourself feel better and more relaxed. They log what we eat and we see the nutritionist at regular intervals. I did things and I achieved things I didn’t think I could do.

"It really is a beautiful place and we are all having a lot of fun. We’re flying back out there in a couple of weeks and I can’t wait.

“Although, to be honest, I do love my job at the school and miss the pupils when I’m not there.”

Cllr Catherine Hynes, Trafford Council Executive Member for Equalities and Partnerships, said: “Our crossing patrol staff are very important, ensuring the safety of thousands of youngsters on a daily basis. Marguerite is no exception — she is very popular amongst all the parents and children at the school and we are all very proud of her.

“Well done Marguerite.”
