AN investigation has been launched after a Manchester canal turned an unusual colour.
Images of the Bridgewater Canal to the west of the city centre show the water has a bright blue tinge.
The Environment Agency has confirmed officers are looking into the incident, first reported to them on Tuesday.
They said in a statement: "We are aware of reports of discoloration in Bridgewater Canal.
"Environment Officers are currently on site and investigating the cause.
"At this stage we do believe the discoloration has been caused by pollution and we will continue to monitor the site to reduce any environmental impact."
The stretch of water near the Trafford Centre shopping complex is privately owned and operated by the Bridgewater Canal Company.
