A MAN has died after his car collided with a fuel tanker in Trafford Park.

Shortly before 6am on Friday December 21, police were called to reports of a collision between a blue Vauxhall Meriva and a fuel tanker on Trafford Park Road.

Emergency services attended and the driver of the Vauxhall – a 42-year-old man – was taken to hospital where he died on Friday December 28 from his injuries.

The driver of the fuel tanker remained at the scene to speak with officers and no arrests have been made.

Trafford Park Road was closed between Churchill Way and Tenax Circle for several hours whilst investigation work was carried out. Enquiries are ongoing.

Police constable Karl Horner, of GMP’s Serious Collision Investigation Unit, said: “This was a tragic incident in which a man lost his life and we have specially trained officers supporting his family who are understandably devastated.

“Our investigation remains ongoing and I am particularly keen to speak to anyone who witnessed the collision or anyone with dash-cam footage. Please get in touch if you have any information that could assist our enquiries.”
