A CAR that crashed and exploded into a fireball has destroyed a Dyserth hair salon’s window.

The fire engulfed High Street business Hair Culture’s shop front.

This followed a collision between the car and a railing at about 6.30am on Sunday, December 16.

Neal Colakoglu, a resident of the High Street, said: “At about 6.30am I heard a big bang.

“Before I saw it, you could hear people screaming and making a lot of noise and smell the car burning.

“I ran outside and could see the car on of fire and that it had must have hit a railing outside the salon first because it was all bent.

“Then there was an explosion and it melted all the glass at the salon.

Mr Colakoglu added: “About 10 minutes later, the police and fire crews came and started putting it out."

Two fire crews from Abergele and Rhyl were called to the scene, taking more than an hour and a half to bring the blaze under control at about 8am.

A spokesperson for North Wales Fire and Rescue Service said: “We were called at 6.25am to a small vehicle fire that had spread to a mid terrace property on Dyserth High Street.

“The business, a commercial hairdressers was affected by smoke damage on ground floor and residential first floor.

“On a second terrace property the fire had affected the external fascias only of the first floor and there was 100 percent fire damage to car.

“We have do not know the cause of the car fire as yet.”

A spokesperson for North Wales Police said: “We received a call at 6.23am on Sunday on Dyserth High Street, reporting a one vehicle collision with a bollard.

“The car caught fire, and it appears as though a building has been damaged as well.

The spokesperson added that no one was injured.

The owner of the business has been approached for comment.
