VILLAGERS and visitors who use Storth Shop and Post Office have helped to bag Rosemere Cancer Foundation a £1,000 donation.

Storth Community Co-operative runs the business on a voluntary basis with any profits given to good causes nominated by customers.

Volunteer shop assistant Alison Charlesworth, former head teacher of Storth CE Primary School, suggested the cancer charity, having had treatment at the Rosemere Cancer Centre at Royal Preston Hospital.

Rosemere's local fundraising coordinator Julie Hesmondhalgh said: "We feel very privileged as it is the third time the co-operative has given us an award as we received £1,000 from it last year and £500 the year before.”
