ON Sunday, November 11, 150 people heard Flixton Band mark 100 years since the end of the First World War, with a commemorative concert at the John Alker club in Urmston.
It was attended by the band’s president and former mayor, Cllr Jonathan Coupe and veterans.
The programme included poignant pieces suitable for the occasion, including Hymn for the Fallen and Nimrod.
Other, more upbeat tunes of the time such as It's A Long Way to Tipperary and Hello Who's Your Lady Friend were also performed culminating in Land of Hope and Glory.
The band received a standing ovation.
The John Alker Club treated those who attended to a hot pot.
Earlier in the day, Flixton Band had played at Stretford cenotaph as part of the Remembrance Sunday events.
