SENTINEL - Climate Change in Sound and Light - returns to Waterside Arts in Sale on Thursday, October 25 with new data visualisations, music and original video content.

Part of Manchester Science Festival, it is a multi-sensory journey through present and future effects of global warming and is conceived and composed by Richard Evans.

Lush synths and electro-rhythms mix with live vocals, data art, laser lighting and video for this hi-tech show inspired by themes of climate change and forced migration.

The soundtrack of analogue synths is accompanied by award-winning artist Valentina D’efilippo’s stunning visuals which are created directly from climate and migrant data, along with live vocals by Charlotte Dalton.

Scientists will discuss the show’s themes before the performance, followed by a question and answer session.

Panel members will include science luminaries such as bio-ethicist Dr Sarah Chan (Chancellor’s Fellow at the Usher Institute for Population Health Sciences and Informatics, University of Edinburgh), Dr Joanne Pennock (Immunologist, University of Manchester), and Richard Evans (creator, composer and performer of Sentinel).

They will discuss climate change and migration and their impact on the past and the future.

Sentinel is produced by Cold Star Media with support from Arts Council England, Manchester Science Festival, Waterside and the University of Salford.

* The panel discussion will start at 7.00pm on Thursday, October 25.

The performance will follow at 8.15pm.

Admission is £10, and £8 concessions.
