POLICE are appealing for information after a motorcyclist died when he crashed his bike in Trafford Park.

Shortly after 2.55pm on Friday, police were called to Mosley Road in Stretford to reports that a motorbike had collided with an Armco barrier.

Officers attended and administered CPR alongside paramedics but the man was pronounced dead at the scene.

It is believed that the man, who is thought to be in his 40s, lost control of the motorcycle just prior to the collision.

It is understood no other vehicles were involved in the collision.

The road was closed in both directions between Barton Dock Road and Westinghouse Road for several hours following the incident, but has since been reopened.

Police Constable Phil Shaw, of GMP’s Serious Collision Investigation Unit, said: “This is a truly tragic incident and our thoughts are with this man’s family at this incredibly difficult time.

“We are keen to speak with anyone who may have witnessed the collision or have dashcam footage showing the incident or the moments leading up to it.

“If you think you have information that can assist us with our enquiries then I would urge you to please get in touch.”

Anybody with information about the circumstances surrounding the collision should contact the Serious Collision Investigation Unit on 0161 856 4741 or the independent charity Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555 111.
