ALTRINCHAM returned to winning ways with a 3-2 National League North victory at Bradford Park Avenue on Saturday.

Robins supporters arrived at the Horsfall Stadium with some concerns after witnessing just one win in their team's previous seven games.

To add to their worries, leading scorer Jordan Hulme, as well as James Poole and defenders Shaun Densmore and Connor Hampson were not fit to start.

But the travelling fans returned home from Yorkshire delighted with three points earned against a side which had started the match in third place in the table.

After only seven minutes, Altrincham took the lead when loanee Owen Dale's effort was beaten out but bundled home by the incoming Tom Peers.

However, shortly before half time, Bradford equalised when a Nicky Clee free kick led to defender Shane Killock netting.

The hosts deservedly took the lead after 52 minutes when midfielder Conor Branson was allowed to advance up the middle to score from close range after Elliot Wynne had done well to beat out his first attempt.

Alty responded quickly as John Johnston netted just three minutes later with a deflected shot.

Bradford were then stunned by another Altrincham goal in the 61st minute.

Substitute Max Harrop had just joined the game when he received a pass from Johnston and from an acute angle, left of goal, he drove a superb shot into the far, bottom corner to put the visitors back ahead.

Despite some late pressure from the Yorkshiremen, Altrincham rode out the closing stages without too many alarms to maintain their excellent away form, which has yielded 10 of their 12 league points to date.

This Saturday Altrincham host Whitley Bay of the Northern League in the FA Cup.
