A THIEF has racked up tens of thousands of pounds on a stolen credit card after a weekend shopping spree at the Trafford Centre.
Police have released an image of the man they wish to speak to in relation to the credit card theft and the subsequent lavish spending spree over the weekend of July 21-22.
On Friday, July 20, police received a report that a credit card had been stolen from an office in Lloyd Street in Manchesetr city centre.
The stolden credit card was used two days later to buy a number of luxury goods from shops at intu Trafford Centre.
Officers traced the credit card and discovered that it had been used to buy expensive jewellery, clothes and electronics at the shopping centre.
The credit card bill ran into tens of thousands of pounds over a two day shopping spree.
Detective Sergeant Daniel Hadfield from GMP’s north Manchester team said: “After a large CCTV trawl we have identified a man that we would like to speak to in connection with the theft of the credit card and subsequent spending spree.
“This was a phenomenal amount of money to be spent in just two days.
“I would like to appeal for anyone who recognises the man in the photo to get in touch with police as soon as possible.
“If the man himself is reading this, I would like to encourage him to come forward.”
