PENSIONERS in Trafford are getting fighting fit at new exercise classes specially designed for the over-60s
Personal trainers Julia Millington and Chris Samuels are on a mission to keep pensioners moving and improve their health and fitness.
After the success of their fitness classes in Timperley, the dynamic duo are bringing their exercise classes for over-60s to Sale.
On Thursday, September 6, JC Fitness will welcome pensioners in Sale to classes designed to help older people maintain and improve strength, mobility, balance and overall health.
The classes combine exercises that have been scientifically proven to turn back the clock, based on findings at the Centre for Healthy Ageing Research at the University of Birmingham .
Julia said: “We want to make a real difference to the community and to help this age group to feel great about themselves.”
“There are so many classes and clubs aimed at the under fifties and very little for the baby boomers, who still want to feel great but often don’t like going to the gym.
“We know that people of all ages and abilities can benefit from physical activity and we’re passionate about using our expertise and experience to bring these benefits to an age group that isn’t always catered for by the fitness industry.”
Sylvia Burch, who attends classes in Timperley, said: “It’s helped me lose two stone and it’s helped me to keep if off. I love coming to this class.”
Another member Sheila Tute said: “It’s saved me from watching daytime TV with my hand in the biscuit tin.
“What a relief it is that I can now fill my time in a better way. I’m fighting fit now!”
Fitness instructor Chris Samuels said: “The exercises that we do in the classes are easy to follow and fun.
“This isn’t about people dressing in lycra ready to hit the gym or do a high intensity session.
“It’s for people who want to live longer, happier, healthier, independent lives.
“It’s also a fantastic way to socialise and have fun, whilst keeping fit!
“We always ensure that there’s a warm welcome for everyone who attends and people of all levels of fitness are welcome.”

Thursday 10.00am at St Joseph’s Parish Hall, Hope Road, Sale M33 3BF
