STUDENTS at Altrincham Grammar School for Boys are once again celebrating outstanding GCSE results.

Of all the grades awarded, 32 per cent were at the coveted Grade 9, the highest possible in the new system and above the old A*.

In addition, 78 per cent of all grades achieved by pupils were at Grade 7/A or above.

There were also a number of outstanding individual performances; three students achieved the highest grades (9/A*) in all their GCSE subjects and 78 students achieved an average of least a Grade 8 in their GCSE results.

Mr. Graeme Wright, the new head master at AGSB, said: "We are thrilled with our excellent results at A level and GCSE.

"I would like to extend my warmest congratulations to all our students who have worked extremely hard in the lead up to their exams.

"In a year where all schools have been warned to expect ‘unpredictable results’ due to exam reforms, students and staff have continued to work hard to adapt to the new examination system.

"Our continued success in these key examinations is attributed to the thorough preparation by staff and the hard work and resolve of our students; both students and staff can feel justifiably proud of their achievements.

"I am thoroughly looking forward to working with such committed staff and so many talented students."
