THERE is simply no substitute for hard work, says Loreto Grammar School Headteacher Jane Beever.

The headteacher was speaking after her girls recorded another set of stunning A Level results this year.

Mrs Beever said: “Colleagues and students have embraced the necessary changes associated with the new linear style of assessment and the more rigorous curriculum and worked tirelessly to achieve these superb results.

"There are no ifs or buts or maybes at Loreto, it’s simply hard work if you want to succeed.

“Over 75 per cent of all grade were at A star to B with over 40 per cent at either A* or A, which all means our students have the opportunity to study some truly exciting and challenging courses at the country’s very best universities.”

Loreto Grammar School’s identical twins Hannah and Lucy O’Donnell said team work was the secret to their identical grades in identical subjects in their A Levels.

The Timperley twins each got an A* in Psychology with A grades in Biology and History.

Lucy said: “I did start a physics course but then swapped after one week when Hannah told me I should really be doing Psychology.”

Hannah said: “There is absolutely no sibling rivalry, after all we are a team.”

Lucy added: “We share the same friends, both play the piano and enjoy lacrosse and do everything together.”

“It will be hard to be separated as I am going to Newcastle and Lucy is going to Bristol,” said Hannah.

Lucy said: “But At least there is a plane that flies direct between the cities for when we just can’t bear it any longer.”
