A MOTORCYCLIST has died after being involved in a collision in Altrincham at the weekend.

The 50-year-old man was riding a red Ducati Multistrada motorcycle when he collided with a red Volkswagen Touran in Regent Road, at the junction with Groby Road, around 7.10pm on Saturday, August 4.

The motorcyclist was thrown from the vehicle and sustained serious head and facial injuries. He was taken to hospital by ambulance, where he died on Sunday.

Whilst the other driver remained at the scene, no arrests have been made and witnesses are encouraged to make contact with investigating officers.

Police Constable Phil Shaw of GMP’s Serious Collision Investigation Unit, said: “With his family by his bedside, the man has sadly died in hospital.

“As we give them the space they need to deal with this horrific news, I’d urge witnesses or anyone with information that could help us, to get in contact.

"As it was still quite early on in the evening and the weather was dry, there would have been people who witnessed exactly what happened – we need them to contact us as soon as possible.

"Please, whether you witnessed it first-hand or saw either of the vehicles prior to the collision, please get in touch."
