A MOTORCYCLIST has died after sustaining catastrophic injuries in a crash in Stretford.

The motorcyclist, a man aged 30, was taken to hospital after the crash in Winchester Road, Stretford yesterday afternoon.

The man was riding a Yahama motorcycle when he collided with a white Vauxhall Insignia in Winchester Road, at the junction with Fountains Road, around 4.30pm on Wednesday.

Police were called to the scene at 4.35pm and closed both roads whilst paramedics attended to the injured motorcyclist.

The driver of the Vauxhall Insignia remained at the scene and is assisting Police with their enquiries.

Police are appealing for witnesses to the fatal collision.

Sergeant Lee Westhead from GMP’s Serious Collision Investigation Unit said: “My thoughts are with the man’s family and loved ones, this really is so sad.

“Our investigations are still at an early stage and we are appealing to anyone who has information on the collision, witnessed the vehicles prior to the incident, or has dashcam footage that might be of use to us, to contact police.”
