I WAS invited to attend the Urmston History Society for a talk by David Smith, on the life and work of one of Trafford’s greatest civil servants.

Leonard Leeming was the engineer and surveyor for the Urmston Urban District Council from the 1940s, and he was responsible for designing and building the clock tower cenotaph at Davyhulme Circle. He even designed the circle itself!

It was a fascinating evening that I thoroughly enjoyed. There is so much history in our area and I had no idea that Mr Leeming was so often at the very heart of it.

Mr Leeming is a man I am very interested to learn more about and I highly recommend an evening at the Urmston History Society to learn more about him and our fascinating local history.

The history society meet at the Masonic Hall in Urmston on the first Thursday of each month. I’m sure you will be made as welcome as I was!

Trafford Partnership and Trafford Council, along with Waterside Arts, also invited me to Trafford Live at Trafford Town Hall. The event was to celebrate the best of Trafford with entertainment for all the family.

I was honoured to perform a set of Rat Pack classics in the sunken gardens. It was a lovely day that I really enjoyed.

We have a vast and diverse community here in Trafford and it was great to see everyone together celebrating what our borough has to offer.

To finish, I was a guest recently on Becky Want’s show on BBC Radio Manchester.

Becky has her BLTs (Becky’s Lunch Timers) who pop in to her Media City studio to chat about various topics and current affairs.

I am proud to say that I have been invited to become a BLT myself!

So keep listening to the wireless for my next visit to the Beeb!
